Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 28, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how My Buddy Support collects, uses, stores, and handles information when people use our website and app.
2. Information Users Provide
Depending on how you use My Buddy Support, you may provide:
- account and profile information, such as a name and mobile number;
- supported-person information, such as a name and the routines set up for them;
- support-network information for team members you invite, such as name, mobile number, and role;
- routines and tasks, including any timers or settings you configure;
- progress and completion information, including approvals and requests for help;
- notes and daily care instructions written by the support network;
- invitation and device-pairing information;
- role and access-level information;
- access credentials, such as PINs, which are stored in hashed form rather than as the numbers you type;
- parent/guardian consent details where an account is set up for a supported person under 13;
- any name, email, subject, and message you send us if and when a contact form becomes available;
3. Information Collected Automatically
The app stores information on your device using browser local storage so your session, device role, and routine data continue to work between visits, including offline. This storage is used for essential app functionality, not for advertising.
We record limited first-party product events (for example, that a "Get Started" button or a Help Center topic was opened, and basic sign-in attempt records used to limit repeated failed PIN attempts). Devices paired to a support group are recorded with a device label so the account owner can review and remove them. Our hosting platform also provides aggregate website traffic statistics such as page views, general device type, and country.
We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not collect precise location information.
4. How Information Is Used
We use information to:
- provide and operate My Buddy Support;
- let authorized support-network members collaborate;
- deliver routines and tasks and track completion and progress;
- maintain accounts, roles, and access controls;
- provide invitations and device pairing;
- maintain security, including limiting repeated failed sign-in attempts;
- troubleshoot and improve the service;
- respond to support requests you send us;
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising.
5. Information About Supported People
Account owners and authorized support-network members may enter information about a person they support. Please provide another person's information only when you have permission or the legal authority to do so.
Access to supported-person information is intended to be limited to members of that support group according to the role and permissions assigned in the app.
6. Children's Privacy
My Buddy Support is designed to be managed by account holders and support people, and is not intended for children under 13 to independently create or manage an account or independently submit personal information.
Parents and legal guardians using My Buddy Support to support a minor should provide only the information reasonably necessary to use the service. For questions or requests concerning a minor's information, please message My Buddy Support on Facebook.
7. How Information Is Shared
Information entered in a support group may be visible to authorized members of that support network, according to their assigned role and permissions.
Information may also be processed by the service providers we use to host the website and app, store data, and deliver messages you ask us to send.
My Buddy Support does not sell personal information, and does not use personal information for third-party targeted advertising.
8. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on a hosting and application platform, a managed database and file-storage service, and an email-delivery service used to send the messages submitted through our Contact page. These providers process information only in connection with providing their services to us, subject to their applicable agreements and privacy terms.
9. Data Security
My Buddy Support uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the service to help protect information, including role-based access, PIN gates on shared devices, hashed PIN storage, and limits on repeated failed sign-in attempts.
No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, and we cannot promise that information will always remain secure.
10. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet legitimate operational and security needs, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes, subject to what the system is able to do.
When a support-network member leaves a Support Group or is removed by an Owner, My Buddy Support may retain limited information necessary to identify that person's past contributions. This may include a name, the person's relationship or connection to the Supported Person, their former role, the date they were removed, and historical notes, activities, instructions, completions, or care records they previously created. Retaining this information helps preserve the integrity and continuity of care and support records. This retained information does not give a former member continued access to the Support Group.
11. Access, Correction, and Deletion
Within the app, account owners and other authorized members can edit or remove supported people, routines and tasks, notes, team members, and paired devices. An Owner can permanently delete an entire Support Group and its stored data after PIN verification. Data held only on a device can also be removed by clearing that browser's site data or uninstalling the app.
A signed-in non-Owner support-network member can remove themself from a Support Group using the available self-removal option in the app. When they do, their active membership is removed, their access credentials for that Support Group are revoked, they can no longer access the Support Group using those credentials, and protected session and cache information on their current device is cleared as part of the removal flow. Legitimate historical records they previously created may remain as part of the Support Group's history.
An Owner can remove a non-Owner support-network member. When the Owner removes that person, the removed member's active membership is removed, their access credentials for that Support Group are revoked, and they can no longer access protected Support Group information. Legitimate historical records previously created by that person may remain, which helps preserve the integrity and continuity of care and support records.
An Owner can permanently delete a Supported Person when more than one Supported Person exists in the Support Group. Deleting that Supported Person removes the information specifically associated with that person according to the application's deletion process. The final or only Supported Person in a Support Group cannot currently be individually deleted because the application requires at least one Supported Person for the Support Group to function correctly. If the Owner wants to permanently remove the entire Support Group and its remaining Supported Person data, the Owner can use the existing permanent Delete Support Group process.
For anything you cannot change yourself, you can contact us by messaging My Buddy Support on Facebook. Some limited information may remain for a period in backups, security records, or where retention is required by law.
12. Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may give you rights concerning access, correction, deletion, or other treatment of your personal information. You can send privacy requests by messaging My Buddy Support on Facebook.
13. Data Breach and Security Incidents
If we become aware of a security incident involving personal information, we will take reasonable steps appropriate to the circumstances and provide notices where required by applicable law.
14. Third-Party Links
Our website and app may link to external websites or services, such as our social media page. Those third parties are governed by their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. When we make material revisions, we will update the Effective Date shown at the top of this page.
